Pool Update
I haven’t updated in a while. I got cut! Anyways, got some shit done. Mike and I decided to cruise down and rent a air hammer. We went to town on the concrete around the skimmer. Tore about 2.5′ of concrete out until we reached the bottom of the skimmer basket. We found that the skimmer was totally encased in concrete so we were F’d! So… I decided to make my own hole. I took a 2″ hole saw and put a hole through the side of the skimmer at the very bottom. This went well but the OD of the 1.5″ PVC pipe was quite a bit less than the hole. It would have been very unstable. So, we measured the diameter of the actual hole with a set of calipers. I then slapped a 1.5″ coupling on the lathe and milled the OD down about .005″ under what we had been measuring. I then tapered the cut a bit. That worked perfect! All we ended up doing is slapping some PVC primer and glue on that and shoving it in the hole. After it gained a bit of mechanical strength I went over it with some PVC epoxy. Ain’t nothing pulling that out now. That was the major accomplishment over the past week. After completing that I could backfill and spread the gravel around the rest of the yard. I had just enough. I also finished up the last bit of stucco in the pit. The entire back yard is pretty much ready for some paint.
