Another PCB Run

I recently got a few boards back. Because of the new job it’s taken a while to populate them and test them. I found a bit of time over the Thanksgiving weekend. In order, you will see a dual H-bridge, a flash memory breakout and a MMC breakout

So Far, So Good

So, I’ve been here about two weeks and everything is still great. The only thing that sucks is the traffic. I spent 2.5 hours commuting to work one morning. I started getting fancy with the drive home by taking side streets to avoid I-10. That worked like a champ until I rolled past a murder scene on Normandie and Slauson. After that I determined it’s probably best if I keep my white ass on the freeway.

Anyways, the work is great. I like what I am doing and the people I work with seem to be pretty cool. I have only been there a week or so and I have a board design due back tomorrow. Hopefully all goes well and I have no green wires!

Jet Blast

Some how boy has gotten tight with a wing at Luke Air Force Base. It’s really bullshit as he is probably going to end up getting a flight out of the whole deal. I’d give my left nut for a flight in a F-16…. actually I’d give both. Anyways, boy has these “special privlidges” now and so he took the brats and I out to the runway. It was bad ass! We watched 6 jets take off from just a couple hundred feet away. Those jets get moving in a hurry! I thought this was worth mentioning. It gives me a boner and it should have the same effect on you as well. That is… unless your some kind of sissy!

Night Flight

CNC

I spent some time helping Billy convert his large mill to CNC for cutting the tensioner. The conversion is just a temporary one using the motors and drives canabalized from my sherline CNC machine. Billy has created some nice motor mounts for the table. My motors are barely sufficient for a mill of this size so he made a 2:1 reduction on the sprocket. Anyways, we set it up and made a few test cuts in some scrap aluminum with a 1-1/4″ ball mill. Looks like we are going to have to cut the entire round at 1 in/min at a depth of 20-30 mils. I think that works out to roughly 10 hours to cut just the one part. The only thing missing from the setup is the rotary table and tailstock. Billy has made some adapter plates for these as well. We are pretty much ready to go… I believe we will be cutting the round next weekend.

Nothing But Junk

So all this time I have been patiently waiting for the new release of blogger so that I could add my projects in. It’s finally here and it’s a PIECE OF SHIT! Nothing works with publishing via FTP. The only bonus is that blogger now sorts out my posts by user defined labels. So, I am going to have to create some sort of plug in for the side bar so that the projects can be navigated by label.
