Hockey Hands

If you play hockey then you are very familiar with the odor that remains with your hands for a day or two AFTER the game. It’s a pretty nasty odor and there really isn’t much that you can do about it. It’s not that we don’t practice good hygiene. Soap and water only provide a temporary mask and do nothing to combat the problem. Well, this problem has plagued man for long enough and I think I have the answer.

A few weeks back (before I quit) I attempted to rid the smell from my gloves and hands using plasma. I used one of the standard systems with a helium/oxygen mixture and went to work on my hands. In no time at all the odor was gone… but was it another temporary mask? Time would tell. Next I inserted the plasma source into my glove and let it fill with ozone. I had similar results.

So was this just a temporary mask? Turns out, no! The pleasant smell of ozone remained with my glove for about two weeks and my hockey hands were odor free for a similar length of time.

New Job

A few weeks back I resigned from Surfx for reasons which most of you are aware. I ended up with another small company and that suits me just fine. This company has a security product in a niche market and they appear to do very well with it. The position will require me to maintain and improve the current product as well as develop future products. This is the sort of stuff I love to do so needless to say I am happy.

My Office

A lot of you have been asking me if I was going to build another bench to do my EE work on. I think most of you are actually making fun, but that’s fine. Anyways, I decided not to so that I could keep things relatively neat. I know most chicks dig re-work tools but I figure I should stash them away. So, I bought some baskets with lids and stuffed all the tools into them. That way I can get at them when I need them… should keep things tidy. As for the rest of my “office” I purchased a T61p for myself as I just returned my beloved T60p to Surfx (more on this later). I am dual booting between Vista 64 bit and Ubuntu 64 bit. I also purchased a 22″ monitor so that I could set up dual screens for MCAD and ECAD work. A nice desk from World Market, along with a lamp, a sweet chair, and a picture of my favorite puppy finish it off. I still have to lay down a mat beneath the chair and clean up the dangling wires but for the most part I am happy.
