Memorial Day Tourney
We had a 3 on 3 tournament this weekend. It was quite a bit larger than the last one. There was 16 teams involved in 4 different tiers (A,B,C,C). I signed up to play in net for both C divisions and play out in the A division. Turned out to be true iron man hockey for me. The tournament started at 3:45. I was on the ice in net for 9 consecutive games. I only had two 20 minute breaks in the first 5 hours of the tournament. Crazy but fun! I made it to the championship game with one of my teams but unfortunately we lost. Results looked like:
Storm: W(15-4), L(5-3), L(7-2), L(4-1)
Giants: L(11-4), OTL(4-3), W(6-5), W(5-3), L(8-4)
Immediately after that I changed gear and played for the A division where we failed to make the finals. I didn’t end up leaving the rink until 3:00 AM. What a day! If only every Saturday could be like that!
A friend from one of my teams is a professional photographer. He was at the rink all day taking photos of all the action. He sent me a few photos from my games. These shots are unbelievable! Supposedly I made the save on both of these although I don’t believe that I could possibly have gotten my glove on the first. However, he says he has the shots right after and I did indeed make the save. I’ll go with it….
Weeks 9+10
I had my game taped for week 9… a horrible game it was. I guess that’s the best type of game to have taped when you are looking to learn from the video. I got rocked for 9 goals and most of them were pretty soft. I spotted a lot of stupid things that i am doing. Now I just need to correct them. I’ll see if I can’t edit that video and put some of the most humuliating clips up.
Week 10 was a bit better but still another loss. Probably my last chance to get a win this season as we were playing the second to last place team (the one just above us). I had a guy crash the net and collide pretty hard with me. Hit me directly on the top of my bum shoulder. I’ve got a pain that I’ve never felt before so I’ll likely be heading to the orthopedic surgeon in the next week or so.
